मिर्गी के दौरे क्यों पड़ते हैं?

मस्तिष्क में चोट (Brain Injury)- किसी को सड़क दुर्घटना, गिरने या सिर पर चोट लगने के बाद मस्तिष्क की कोशिकाएं क्षतिग्रस्त हो सकती हैं, जो बाद में दौरे का कारण बनती हैं।

स्ट्रोक (Stroke)- स्ट्रोक के बाद मस्तिष्क के प्रभावित हिस्से में असंतुलित विद्युत गतिविधि विकसित हो जाती है, जिससे मिर्गी होने की संभावना बढ़ जाती है।

दिमाग में ट्यूमर या इंफेक्शन (Brain Tumor Or Infection)- ब्रेन ट्यूमर, मैनिन्जाइटिस, एन्सेफलाइटिस जैसे संक्रमण दिमाग की संरचना को प्रभावित करते हैं और मिर्गी के दौरे की स्थिति पैदा कर सकते हैं।

पहले मामले में 90 वर्षीय महिला गंभीर एओर्टिक स्टेनोसिस और कई अन्य बीमारियों से जूझ रही थीं। लगातार सांस फूलना, सीने में दर्द और हड्डी टूटने जैसी गंभीर परिस्थितियों में उन्हें हॉस्पिटल लाया गया। उनकी उम्र और कमजोर स्वास्थ्य को देखते हुए ओपन-हार्ट सर्जरी संभव नहीं थी। हॉस्पिटल की मल्टीडिसिप्लिनरी हार्ट टीम ने TAVI प्रक्रिया को चुना और जटिल एओर्टिक एन्यूलस के लिए सेल्फ-एक्सपैंडेबल वाल्व का उपयोग किया। कुछ ही दिनों में उनकी सांस लेने की तकलीफ दूर हो गई और दो महीने के भीतर वे सामान्य जीवन जीने लगीं। 

दूसरे मामले में 79 वर्षीय पुरुष मरीज, जिनकी 10 साल पहले ओपन-हार्ट वाल्व रिप्लेसमेंट सर्जरी हुई थी, गंभीर हार्ट फेलियर के लक्षणों के साथ हॉस्पिटल आए। जांच में उनका बायोप्रोस्थेटिक वाल्व फेल पाया गया। दोबारा ओपन-हार्ट सर्जरी जोखिम भरी थी, इसलिए डॉक्टरों ने वाल्व-इन-वाल्व TAVI प्रक्रिया को चुना। इसमें पुराना वाल्व फ्रैक्चर कर नया बैलून-एक्सपैंडेबल मायवाल (Meril) वाल्व लगाया गया। मरीज बिना किसी जटिलता के स्वस्थ होकर डिस्चार्ज हुए और कुछ ही सप्ताह में सामान्य दिनचर्या में लौट आए।

रोकथाम के उपायों पर जोर देते हुए डॉ. सचदेव ने कहा कि “ब्लड शुगर, ब्लड प्रेशर और कोलेस्ट्रॉल को नियंत्रित रखना अत्यंत जरूरी है। नियमित एक्सरसाइज, फलों और सब्ज़ियों से भरपूर संतुलित आहार, धूम्रपान से परहेज़ और स्वस्थ बॉडी वेट बनाए रखना, आँखों की सेहत और समग्र स्वास्थ्य के लिए अत्यंत लाभदायक है। उन्होंने यह भी सलाह दी कि भले ही कोई लक्षण न हों, फिर भी साल में कम से कम एक बार डायलेटेड रेटिनल एग्ज़ामिनेशन सहित संपूर्ण आँखों की जांच करवानी चाहिए, ताकि शुरुआती परिवर्तन समय रहते पहचाने और इलाज किए जा सकें।”
