गर्दन की छोटी गांठ को न करें नजरअंदाज, हो सकता है थायरॉइड कैंसर का संकेत

करनाल - थायरॉइड गर्दन के निचले हिस्से में मौजूद तितली के आकार की छोटी ग्रंथि है, लेकिन शरीर के लिए इसका काम बेहद महत्वपूर्ण है। यह मेटाबॉलिज्म, दिल की धड़कन, शरीर का तापमान और ऊर्जा के स्तर को नियंत्रित करने में मदद करती है। जब थायरॉइड की कोशिकाएं असामान्य रूप से बढ़ने लगती हैं, तो इसे थायरॉइड कैंसर कहा जाता है। 

थायरॉइड कैंसर कई प्रकार का होता है। इनमें पैपिलरी थायरॉइड कैंसर सबसे आम है और ज्यादातर मामलों में इसका इलाज प्रभावी रहता है। फॉलिक्युलर, मेडुलरी और दुर्लभ एनाप्लास्टिक थायरॉइड कैंसर भी इसके अन्य प्रकार हैं। यह बीमारी महिलाओं में अधिक देखी जाती है। परिवार में थायरॉइड कैंसर का इतिहास, बचपन में रेडिएशन के संपर्क में आना और कुछ आनुवंशिक कारण इसका खतरा बढ़ा सकते हैं। 

मैक्स सुपर स्पेशलिटी हॉस्पिटल, साकेत के सर्जिकल ऑन्कोलॉजी विभाग के वाइस चेयरमैन डॉ. रोहित नैय्यर ने बताया, “गर्दन में बिना दर्द वाली गांठ या सूजन थायरॉइड कैंसर का संकेत हो सकती है। इसके अलावा आवाज में लगातार बदलाव या भारीपन, निगलने में परेशानी, गर्दन में लिम्फ नोड्स की सूजन, गर्दन में दर्द और लंबे समय तक रहने वाली खांसी को नजरअंदाज नहीं करना चाहिए। हालांकि, थायरॉइड की हर गांठ कैंसर नहीं होती, इसलिए घबराने के बजाय सही जांच जरूरी है।” 

थायरॉइड की गांठ की जांच के लिए अल्ट्रासाउंड और जरूरत पड़ने पर फाइन नीडल बायोप्सी की जाती है। इलाज बीमारी के प्रकार और स्टेज पर निर्भर करता है। कई मामलों में सर्जरी से थायरॉइड का कुछ हिस्सा या पूरी ग्रंथि निकाल दी जाती है। कुछ मरीजों को रेडियोएक्टिव आयोडीन थेरेपी और बाद में थायरॉइड हार्मोन की दवाइयों की जरूरत पड़ सकती है।
